2024 will ultimately be a magnificent year for me, as simply transitioning from graduation to entering the workforce is something worth writing extensively about. This year, as it is also my zodiac year, many significant events have occurred. (The cover photo was taken in May in Northwest China)
Graduation and Work#
- From Student to Worker
This year, I finally ended over a decade of academic life and became an ordinaryworker(cattle and horse 😅😅). After leaving the city where I studied for seven years, I arrived in Zhejiang. Although I am still quite far from my ideal job, I can't be too demanding; I'll just keep going for now!!!
Life#
-
Finally got my driver's license before graduation (
the noble manual transmission, almost got it). -
Acquired my first desktop computer. Fully AMD, although not top-spec, it's sufficient for me (earning money is great 😋)!
-
Learning to invest. Freshly harvested leeks, regularly investing in the NASDAQ ETF.
-
Met online friends in person; although it felt a bit awkward offline, it was still quite nice. Thanks to the internet!!
Books and Films#
Holy Separatist: The following only represents my views in 2024.
Books#
Book | Brief Review |
---|---|
Soft Skills (2nd Edition) | Although I had heard of this book before, I immediately went to read it after hearing it recommended on Beyond Code. I understood many of the principles already, but still learned a lot of new knowledge. Overall, it's great. |
Deng Xiaoping Era | No need to elaborate. Skimmed through it. |
How to Avoid Dying Alone | Alleviated some anxieties typical for this age group. |
The First Line of Code: Android (2nd Edition) | Started with the second edition, and I haven't finished it yet. |
Harvard Positive Psychology Notes | Still reading. |
Films#
Before graduation, I had ample time to watch many movies and catch up on several series. (Too lazy to put Douban links)
Film | Brief Review |
---|---|
White Tower | Graduate school sensory overload, studying medicine is tough!! |
Fast and Furious 2 | Still quite like Han Han, partly because of the Easter egg from the previous OW ( |
Steel Rain | North and South Korea are probably interesting. |
Agent | Same as above. |
Spring in Seoul | Loyalty, paired with the year-end Yin Kaka, dramatic effect maximized. |
The Crown | A very good series. |
The Wind | -- |
Black Lagoon | God among gods. |
Ashes of Time | Liao Fan is indeed handsome. |
The Lost Furlin | A smooth and comfortable road movie. |
Too Many Loser Heroines | Exquisite animation, interesting women. 4K, 8K, how to choose? You ask me? |
Youth | I can't say much. |
What Kind of Life Do You Want to Live | The translated title is quite motivational and eye-catching. It's average; I didn't feel much. Perhaps it's too profound, and I couldn't grasp it. |
Suddenly Looking Back | Good, good, good. Did you see the song at the beginning of the summary? |
Archenemy | Watching Zhu Zhu and Liao Fan. |
Music#
-
Went to the first music festival with friends. I hadn't listened to Chinese songs in a long time and unexpectedly discovered many interesting bands.
-
Skated for a year with MYGO (
must GO for a lifetime!!!).
Finally#
The future, the past, still living well in the present. The phrase I said the most this year is, let's take it one step at a time!! Worrying unnecessarily and getting tangled in the past is futile.
The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways: the point, however, is to change it.
Wishing everyone who reads this, all the best.
